Effective microorganisms feed on organic matter, which is abundantly present in the milking parlour: milk, feed and bedding residues, animal faeces, urine and saliva or fly droppings are just a few of the organic substances that get onto the floor and walls during the milking process , the facility and the clusters arrive. When cleaning, you often don’t get rid of the dirt completely and unintentionally create breeding grounds for unwanted germs and bacteria. Anyone who has their milking parlor with Dr. Higa’s Original™ EM® Effective Microorganisms cleans, cleans naturally, sustainably and improves overall milking hygiene. All current regulations and recommendations for cleaning and disinfection measures in the company have a weak point in terms of sustainability: After cleaning/disinfection, microorganisms settle on the cleaned surfaces again within a few minutes and hours. Depending on how the environment is microbially colonized and the speed at which individual species multiply, this recolonization can consist of a high proportion of undesirable germs.
Unless the resettlement is actively controlled – with original EM®. If positive EM® microorganisms are deliberately brought onto all surfaces during or after cleaning/disinfection measures, the potentially free habitats on which harmful germs could multiply are already occupied. This prevents them from multiplying naturally.
This effect of the EM® can be transferred to all surfaces. On uncleaned surfaces (e.g. also difficult-to-clean surfaces in the barn) it occurs with a delay if used regularly, on regularly / freshly cleaned surfaces it actively protects immediately.

Organic matter is the nutritional basis for EM®. You can take advantage of this property, especially with stubborn dirt, because it is continuously dissolved by the EM®, provided it is used regularly.
A positive side effect of cleaning with EM® is that you can save on conventional cleaning agents. EM® reduces the surface tension of water. As a result, detergents work better even with hard water. Calcifications are prevented directly during cleaning or by repopulating with EM®.
EM® cleans on two levels: visible dirt and microbial. Visible dirt is dissolved and at the same time organic and inorganic deposits are prevented.
A good preparation for later cleaning is to atomize a 2% EMIKO stable cleaner-water mixture during milking. All floors and furnishings as well as the animals themselves can be easily sprayed with a pressure sprayer, weather permitting.
In the case of stubborn dirt, it is worth using the higher cleaning power of the EMIKO all-purpose cleaner instead of using the stable cleaner here as well. More information on the EMIKO all-purpose cleaners lemon dark and lavender dark can be found in the EMIKO shop.
The cleaners are generously distributed in a 2 to 5% dilution on all surfaces to be cleaned.

Odors are caused by degrading (putrefaction) processes. EM prevent this degradation and instead promote fermentative processes that do not produce any unpleasant odors. In this way, EM cleaners eliminate the odor very significantly within a few minutes. Due to the effect of positive microorganisms and the purely natural ingredients, there is no longer any room for bad microbes and bad smells.
Bad smells stick particularly stubbornly to couches, armchairs, beds and pillows. These are difficult to clean, so you often only have the option of treating them superficially with a spray. These cleaners, often mixed with chemicals, also attack the material, make it porous and store the unpleasant odors even more easily, so that the problem keeps coming back.
In addition, one should consider that the use of chemical cleaning agents can have health effects. Animals also suffer greatly from the use of chemical agents, as the odors are often very penetrating.
The all-purpose cleaner Citrus and EMIKO Blond are very good against stubborn odors in the house. Whether cigarettes, litter box or textiles of all kinds: simply spray on diluted and wait. After a few minutes, the odors disappear and a pleasant light fragrance develops.
TIP: Just follow your nose! If it smells – just spray EM® on it! If odors are particularly stubborn, EM® can also be used several times a day until the odor is gone.
The EM® cleaners are 100% ecological and free of synthetic fragrances and preservatives. They are completely natural products that have been developed for daily, safe use.
TIP: The product should first be tested on an inconspicuous area. Although this is a light EM® product, slight discolouration cannot be ruled out. However, these can usually be removed with clear water.
Fragrance sprays can only help to cover up odors, but they do not eliminate the source. The advantage of EM® products compared to commercially available cleaning agents or disinfectants is that a balanced milieu of good microorganisms is maintained.
Conventional fragrance sprays and disinfectants destroy all bacteria that are on surfaces; the good and the bad. With EM® we do not destroy bacteria, but we build up the positive ones! This works by adding the good microorganisms that outweigh the bad microorganisms. The balance shifts to the positive and the harmful germs no longer have a chance to reproduce and are pushed out.
Effective microorganisms have the ability to act as placeholders. Wherever possible places for microbes are, the good ones are already. This creates the desired environment, which makes it difficult for degrading and unwanted germs to spread.
Because effective microorganisms are known to stop putrefaction processes and the associated bad odours, the EMIKO PetCare environmental spray is ideal for use against animal odours. The development of odors is prevented as soon as they arise.
The EMIKO PetCare environment spray is also suitable for neutralizing odors in beds, cat trees, transport boxes, in cars, for shoes, upholstered furniture, carpets or other home textiles. Simply spray on as a precaution or after bad odors develop.
TIP: Use for very smell-sensitive indoor cats and for getting used to it is best if you are sure that the cat will not go to its litter box within the next half hour.
